Here are some events which take place weekly or annually. If your tour happens to fall on this day, we will take you to see and experience them.

Chalandamarz This festival takes place annually on 1st March. Children celebrate it by dressing up in traditional Swiss costumes and gathering at certain places to chase the winter away by making loud noises with cow-bells worn around their waists etc. They also go into shops to ask for permission to "carol" in these shops.

1st August Brunch This is popularly taken on the morning of the Swiss national day. Visit an alp* in the mountain and try Swiss specialties cooked or made by farmers. * An alp is a place between a valley and a mountain where animals like cows, sheep, goats, pigs etc go to for their 3-month summer holidays.

Christmas Market Lots of handmade christmas gifts, local specialities like chocolates, cheese, air-dried meat etc are sold here. You may want to try Swiss bite size food like take-away raclette or little apple donuts with vanilla sauce / sugar or drink Glühwein, a warm spice wine. (Available from beginning December to 23 December.)

Saturday Morning Market - Bellinzona Stalls are set up along the main street at Piazza Collegiata. Vegetables, fruits, flowers, pasta, home-made jams, herbs, cheese, biscuits, cakes, souvenirs, accessories and many more can be found here. (No frogs, snakes etc.)

International Dog Sleigh Race - Sat & Sun, 15 & 16 Jan 2011 (Splügen); 29 & 30 Jan 2011 (Lenzerheide).

Polo World Cup on Snow, St Moritz - Thurs to Sun, 27 to 30 Jan 2011. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lake of St Mortiz. Top polo teams from four continents battle it out for global supremacy on the frozen lake.

White Turf St Moritz 2011 - Sun: 6, 13 & 20 Feb 2011. 12 noon to 4 pm. (2012 - 5, 12 & 19 Feb; 2013 - 3, 10, 17 Feb)
